Lawndale Christian Health Center is always accepting volunteer applications. If you choose to volunteer at LCHC and are accepted for a position, you will be joining a dynamic group of people. We like to know the volunteer’s area of interest so that we can try to match the volunteer with the right opportunity. Please note that all of the positions require the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with excellent guest relation skills. Volunteer opportunities are available for both individuals and groups, for either short or long term commitments.
Do you practice specialized medicine and want to volunteer with us? Contact: Kiwani Cooper to see how you can join the growing number of physicians and specialists volunteering at LCHC.
Reach Out and Read
Each year LCHC sees about 15,000 children for medical visits. One of our programs, Reach Out and Read, provides books for each child to take home as well as provides opportunities for volunteers to engage with children in the waiting room by reading to them while they are waiting to be seen by their Provider. Come read to our pediatric patients or donate Spanish and English children’s books for the program. Contact: Elizabeth Diaz.
Lawndale 5K Walk/Run
The Lawndale 5K Walk/Run is hosted by the Lawndale Christian Fitness Center every September. We rely on community volunteers and health center staff to coordinate the 5K. This event unites nearly 1,000 walkers, runners and youth from all over Chicago in an effort to promote healthy active lifestyles on the Westside. We would love for you to volunteer with us! There are a variety of needs before, during and after the event.
New to LCHC?
We invite you to visit us to see what we’re doing and how you can be involved. Contact Human Resources at email@example.com to learn more.
For general departmental volunteer opportunities, we require two letters of recommendation from people who have known you for at least two years and can attest to your character and work ethic.
