Medical Student and Resident Opportunities

Lawndale Christian Health Center utilizes students from many different health care programs. We offer medical student, physician assistant student, nurse practitioner student and elective medical resident (family practice, pediatrics and internal medicine) rotations in family practice, pediatrics, outpatient internal medicine and women’s health. One-on-one supervision is given with opportunities to work to your highest capacity while serving a population in need of quality care. Bilingual students with English/Spanish will have numerous opportunities to practice your Spanish.

Lawndale Summer Medical Project (LSMP)
The LSMP was developed in conjunction with the Christian Medical & Dental Association. LSMP is a 4-5 week summer program in which 1st year medical students, 4th year pre-med students and other allied health professions students get the opportunity to work alongside Christian clinicians and help to serve a medically underserved community. Students live and work in the Lawndale community to experience total immersion with the community. LSMP focuses on chronic care patients who do not access routine care. Students will also participate in community health fairs, offering various free health screenings to the community. For more information about LSMP, click here.

Lawndale Summer Youth Project (LSYP)
The Lawndale Summer Youth Project (LYSP) is a six-week project sponsored by Lawndale Christian Health Center. LSYP offers high school students job training and valuable exposure to the fields of medicine and public health as well as other related fields. This unique opportunity enables students to gain meaningful work experience and receive in-service training to improve job skills and college preparedness while earning a stipend.

Primary Care Psychology
LCHC also provides year-long APA accredited internships for doctoral-level psychologist for training in primary care psychology.  Interested applicants can apply through the Chicago Area Christian Training Consortium.
